The Periyar University has established a directorate for distance education namely Periyar University - Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE). The PRIDE has been started functioning from the year 2001 - 2002. The CDOE offers various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The course materials are supplied to the students well in advance. The Periyar University has also introduced University Industry Collaborative Programmes through PRIDE from 2010 - 2011 to offer job related programmes and to cater the industrial needs of the students.
