The Department of Microbiology, Periyar University, was started during the academic year 2009-2010, with a vision of establishing world class Science and Technology base with a view to provides knowledge, skills and services in Microbiology with internationally competitive systems.

VISION

Aspires to be a reference center, committed to an academic excellence and to the attainment of national and international recognition for the quality of its educational, research, and service activities in agriculture, medical and public health microbiology.

Candidate who has passed the B.Sc Degree in any Life Sciences (Microbiology/Applied Microbiology/ Industrial Microbiology/ Botany/ Plant Sciences and Plant Biotechnology/ Zoology/ Animal Science/ Applied Animal Science and Animal Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Bioinformatics/ Biology/ Life Science/ Home Science/ Food Science and Nutrition/ BSMS/ BAMS/ Chemistry with Botany/ Zoology as allied subjects of this University or an examination of any other University recognised by the Syndicate as equivalent there to shall be eligible for admission to the M.Sc. Degree programme in Microbiology.
