ABOUT US
Periyar University College of Arts and Science, Harur was started by Government of Tamil Nadu by GO (Perm) No: 35, dated on 18-07-2011. It is a constituent college of Periyar University and affiliated on 22-07-2011 situated Harur Taluk which is educationally most backward area. So, the Government put forth the step to develop this area in Education. The College is located at next to Harur GH in Morappur Main Road in 3 acres of land and it is running in its own premises.
The College started its academic career from 2011 with four Under Graduate courses. They are B.A., English., B.Com., B.Sc., Botany and B.Sc., Computer Science. In 2016, one more Under Graduate course B.Sc., Mathematics was started. Further, in 2017 One UG(B.A. Tamil) and One PG Course(M.A English) were started, At present a total of 953 students are studying in the above courses.
VISION
The Vision of our college is to impart the knowledge and skills of rural students in order to face and meet the growing challenges in social, cultural and technical needs of the society and higher education in Global Scenario
MISSION
The Mission of our college is to create the students to play an active role in making our nation as a fore-runner in all fields and educate, ensure and empower to avoid the superstitious beliefs in human rights and self employment.
OBJECTIVE
Our College provides high-quality, affordable, student- friendly and easily accessible educational services for rural and remote students.
We are highly effective and flexible in responding to state and community demands, where we are guided by the principles of inclusiveness, integrity, innovation, creativity, quality and adapting to a global socio- economic system

About the Library
Periyar University Library was established in 2011. It has 2832 volumes of text and reference books on various disciplines. The library subscribes 08 Magazines and 04 leading Newspapers. The library is following the open access system and provides its service to meet the requirements of U.G., P.G., Students and staff members of the College.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND YOGA
The college imparts quality of physical education and sports training to students to excel in various sports activities. It also teaches Yoga to have a sound physical and mental fitness. The students are trained to have best physical fitness to be enrolling to services of army, navy and police departments. Every year the students actively participate in University intercollegiate games and sports.
