NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME

     The overall objective of the NSS is service to the Community, while undergoing instruction in an educational institution.  It is aimed to arouse the social consciousness of students and provide them with the opportunity to work with people around them creatively and to put the education they receive to concrete social use.  NSS units have been started in the University and also in affiliated colleges.  Regular NSS programmes and special camping programmes were organized with specific project in hand and with involvement of local community.

RED RIBBON CLUBS

     Red Ribbon Clubs have been opened in the affiliated colleges of the University.  The institution is creating 'AIDS' awareness among the students and also public to develop helping tendency and also donate blood to save human lives when needed.  Financial assistance received from the Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society is given to the above clubs at the rate of Rs.5000/- Blood donation camps and AIDS awareness campaigns are also organized.

YOUTH RED CROSS (YRC)

      YRC Units have been formed in affiliated Colleges.  Blood Donation, First Aid Training are the major activities being serviced out through these units.  Students study camps, seminars and youth festivals are being organised through YRC.

ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME
Several endowments have been instituted in the names of National Leaders, Thiru. Rajaji and Dr.B.R.Ambedkar for a total of Rs.50 lakhs.  The interest earned out of the endowment deposits has been utilized for granting scholarships to the meritorious and outstanding students of the University in the various subjects.
Kalaingar Research Fellowships are awarded to M.Phil and Ph.D.Scholars through Kalaingar M.Karunanidhi Research Centre.

NATIONAL CADET CORPS

     National Cadet Corps Program is implemented in  affiliated colleges.  This kindles the interest among the students and develops patriotism towards nation.  Students of this University have taken part in the Republic Day Contingent Parade at New Delhi.

MUTHAMIL ARINGNAR TAMIZHAVEL KALAIGNAR DR.M.KARUNANITHI RESEARCH CENTRE

"Mupperum Vizha" was organised during 1st, 2nd & 3rd December, 2011. On this occasion Kavipperarasu Vaira Muthu has delivered the keynote address.

Honorable Minister for Agriculture Thiru.Veerapandi S.Arumugam who was honoured by the Periyar Award for this year was felicitated in 'Mupperum Vizha'. Scholars from different Universities took part in the three day deliberations.

VILLAGE ADOPTION SCHEME

To promote rural youths our university is conducting various programmes. Very recently, we have adopted Sangeethapatty village and computer training programme was given for school children.

WOMEN WELFARE CENTER

Awareness Programme on Women’s Rights was organised on 15.10.2010 and Mrs. S.P. Sarguna Pandiyan, Chairperson, Tamilnadu State Commission for Women delivered the Keynote address.
