Internal Quality Assurance Cell
Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) is an essential body in the higher learning institutions and it has to be constituted by every institution to monitor academic, research, student activities, curriculum design, extension activities, etc… In Periyar University IQAC was constituted as per the norms of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The Vice-Chancellor Prof. K. Muthuchelian has nominated academic and administrative experts to this body in Periyar University. The first meeting of IQAC is scheduled on 06/01/2011. Prof. S.P. Thyagarajan former Vice-Chancellor University of Madras, Prof. G. Pangajam former Vice-Chancellor Gandhigram Rural University (Deemed) and other academic and administrative experts from Universities and Institutions took part in the deliberations and assessed the performance of Periyar University from various angles.
The members have pointed out many suggestions and ways & means for the growth of Periyar University. Further Prof. K. Muthuchelian Vice-Chancellor of Periyar University has pointed out that the NAAC has given only B+ status to this university and the University has to go for reaccreditation in 2012. IQAC has to play a major role to accelerate the various activities and programs in Periyar University to get A grade by the NAAC committee which is proposed to visit Periyar University in March 2012.
The following activities are planned in the coming months to strengthen the academic and other extension activities in Periyar University.
